The HP200 collector is a 'dry heat pipe' product. In this collector the heat pipe, which contains evaporator fluid is attached to the back of an absorber plate. During daylight hours the energy absorbed by the absorber plate causes the fluid in the heat pipe to change from a fluid to a gas and it is this gas which rises to the 'condenser bulb' at the top of the tube. The condenser bulb is connected directly into the collector manifold via a dry pocket. Within the manifold the glycol passes across the dry pocket that houses the condenser bulb and the high temperature gases. The cooler glycol is then heated by the gas which travels back to the cylinder to heat the water within it. The gases now cooled, return to being a liquid and fall back into the evacuated tube to repeat the process. Due to the 'dry' connection, the HP200 tubes can be replaced without the whole solar system being drained.
